Saint’s Biography

Saint Francis of Girolamo was born on December 17, 1642, at Grottaglie, Apulia, near Taranto, Italy. He was the eldest of eleven siblings. Francis worked in the house of the Theatines where he received the responsibility of a sacrist and catechist at the age of 12 years. All this was a sign of his intention to become a priest.

In 1659, Francis studied humanities and philosophy at the Jesuit college of Taranto, Italy at age 16. Francis later when on to study civil and church law at the college of Gesu Vecchio in Naples in 1665. On March 20, 1666, Francis was ordained as a secular priest. In the next few years, Francis taught in the Jesuits College in Naples. He died on May 11, 1716, at Naples, Italy of natural causes
