Blessed Franciscus Bae Gwan-gyeom

Blessed Franciscus Bae Gwan-gyeom was also known as Francis. He was a Layman martyr in the apostolic vicariate of Korea.

He was born in 745 AD in Dangjin, Chungcheong-do, South Korea and died on January 7 1800 in Cheongju, Chungcheong-do, South Korea. Pope Francis beatified him on August 15 2014.

On September 20 we also celebrate him as one of the Martyrs of Korea.

Blessed Leandro

Blessed Leandro was a member of the Mercedarians. He was a noted teacher and scholar.

He was linguistic and knew the following languages; Latin, Greek, Arabic, Hebrew and Chaldean. He also taught theology and the Bible, and wrote commentaries and poetry.

He died at the Mercedarian monastery of Santa Eulalia in Murcia, Spain due to natural causes.

Saint Anastasius of Sens

St Anastasius of Sens was also known as Anastasius XVIII. He was the Archbishop of Sens, France from 968 AD to 977 AD and started construction on the cathedral there.

He was also a great supporter of the monks of Saint-Pierre-le-Vin. He died in 977 AD in Sens, France due to natural causes.

His relics are in the monastic church of Saint-Pierre-le-Vin.

Saint Valentin II of Terni

St Valentin II of Terni was also known as Valentine. He was the bishop of Terni, Italy in 494 AD and was consecrated by Pope Gelasius I where he served for 39 years.

He died in 533 AD in Interamna (modern Terni), Italy.

He was buried at the church of San Zeno, Rocca San Zeno, Terni.

Saint Emilian of Saujon

St Emilian of Saujon was born ata Vannes, France. He was also known as Emilian of Combes, Aemilio or Aemilianus.

He was a benedictine monk at Saujon, France and a hermit in the forest of Combes, Bordeaux, France.

A well-known wine is named after him. He died in 767 AD.

Saint Theodore of Egypt

St Theodore of Egypt was also known as Theodor. He was a monk and a spiritual student of St. Ammonius the Great in Egypt.

He was also among one of the early desert hermits on the Nile. He is mentioned in the writings of St Athanasius of Alexandria and St Gregory the Great. He died in the 4th century AD.

Saint Brannock

St Brannock was born in the 6th century AD in Welsh. He was also known as Barnoc, Brannoc or Brannocus.

He was a monk. He migrated to Devon, England and founded a monastery at Braunton in Devonshire, and served as its first abbot.

He was buried at the monastery he founded at Braunton, Devonshire, England.

Saint Clerus of Antioch

St. Clerus of Antioch was born in Syria. He was also known as Bilicerius, Lucerius, Licerius or Lycerius. He was a deacon.

He died as a martyr after repeatedly been tortured to give up his faith before being executed. He died in 300 at Antioch(modern Turkey).

Saint Julian of Cagliari

St Julian of Cagliari was believed to have been a count. He died as a martyr at an unknown date. His relics were discovered at Cagliari, Sardinia in 1615, and are enshrined there today.

Saint Crispin II of Pavia

St Crispin II of Pavia was a fifth-century bishop of Pavia, Lombardy, Italy. He supported the acts of the Council of Milan.

He died in 465 AD in Pavia, Italy due to natural causes.

Saint Benjamin of Brescia

St Benjamin of Brescia was a martyr. He died in 125 AD in Brescia, Italy and his relics were re-discovered in 1529 AD.

St Maximus of Brescia was a martyr. He died in 125 AD in Brescia, Italy and his relics were re-discovered in 1529.
