Saint’s Biography
Saint Grata of Bergamo was a widowed laywoman who pursued a mission of giving Christian burial for martyrs. This included the body of Saint Alexander of Bergamo; as St. Grata carried his severed head, lilies sprang from the earth from every spot where a drop of his blood fell. St. Grata built three churches and a hospital for the poor in Bergamo, Italy. She died in 307 AD in Bergamo, Italy.
