St. Illtyd Biography
St. Illtyd was also known as Elchut. He studied under St/ Germanus of Auxerre. He later served as a monk under the instructions of St. Cadoc. He founded the abbey of Llan-Illtut which housed hundreds o monks and became home to many saints.
He defended his people against attacks from the north. To relieve famine, he assembled, stocked and led several corn ships to Brittany. Some villages and churches there are named for him.
