St Jesús Méndez-Montoya, also known as Gesú Méndez, was a Catholic Priest born on June 10 1880 in Tarímbaro, Michoacán, Mexico. He was shot three times and died as a martyr on February 5 1928 in Valtierrilla, Guanajuato, Mexico during the Cristeros rebellion in Mexico. He is one of the martyrs of the Cristero War. We celebrate his feast day on May 21 every year in the Catholic Church.

Saint Jesús Méndez-Montoya was a priest in the Diocese of Morelia in Mexico.
During the persecutions of the Mexican Revolution, he hid in the villages of the peasants.
He lived with them and taught them catechism. He was a Musician and music teacher and died as a Martyr.
