St Justus of Beauvais Life History
The 9-year-old St Justus of Beauvais went on a trip with his father to Amiens, France to ransom their relative who had been imprisoned during the persecutions of Christians under Roman Emperor Diocletian.
Justus was betrayed to the authorities in Beauvais as a Christian magician. When the authorities questioned him about his faith he confessed that he was indeed a Christian, and he was beheaded immediately.
Legend has it that immediately after the head was separated from the body, Justus’s body picked up the decapitated head and continued talking.
The terrified soldiers fled the scene in fear and the pagan onlookers were amazed and later converted to Christianity.
The majority of St Justus of Beauvais relics are preserved in the cathedral in Paris. Others are in Zutphen, Netherlands, and others in France, Belgium, and England.
