St. Luke of Messina Biography
Luke of Messina was the twelveth-century monk at Greek-rite monastery in Italy. In 1130, he led a dozen of monks to the San Salvatore monastery in Messina in Sicily, finished its construction and served as its first abbot. He further made it the mother house of a number of monasteries throughout Sicily and Calabria.
