Saint’s Biography
Saint Romanus of Baghdad was a monk in Bithynia, while out on business for his monastery, he was captured by Saracens and sent to Baghdad. They accused St. Romanus of being a spy, but a local Christian paid a ransom. It was for him not to return to spying. There St. Romanus worked with apostate Christians who wanted to return to the Church. For this crime, his throat cut in 780.
