Saint’s Biography
Saint Thecla of Lentini was born in the 3rd century in Italy. She was the daughter of the Saint Isidore of Lentini and related to Saint Neofyta and Saint Neofytus. Thecla dedicated her life and virginity to Christ. She helped the needy in the city and protected Christians who were persecuted by the will of the Roman governor Tertullus. For six years Thecla was left paralyzed and was bedridden no doctor could heal her, so she submitted to God’s will and prepared to die.
She was healed by the prayers of three holy brothers who had come to Lentini to preach Christian faith. They were imprisoned immediately. Thecla and her servant Justina bribed the guards to visit, feed and serve the brothers and other prisoners until they were each Killed. Both were given a proper Christian funeral by two women.
