St. Willibrord of Echternach Biography
St. Willibrord of Echternach was the son of St. Hilgis. He was educated at Ripon, England and in Ireland under St. Egbert. He was a missionary to Friesland and Luxembourg with St. Swithbert.
He became a Benedictine monk and later became the first bishop of Utrecht, Netherlands in 695 AD after ordination by Pope Saint Sergius I. Willibrord founded several monasteries. He worked with St. Boniface, St. Rumold, St. Werenfridus, St. Engelmund and St. Adalbert of Egmond.
