1st Reading – Acts 5:27-33

27 And when the court officers had brought the Apostles, they set them before the council. And the high priest asked them,

28 Saying: Commanding we commanded you, that you should not teach in this name; and behold, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and you have a mind to bring the blood of this man upon us.

29 But Peter and the apostles answering, said: We ought to obey God, rather than men.

30 The God of our fathers has raised up Jesus, whom you put to death, hanging him upon a tree.

31 Him has God exalted with his right hand, to be Prince and Saviour, to give repentance to Israel, and remission of sins.

32 And we are witnesses of these things and the Holy Ghost, whom God has given to all that obey him.

33 When they had heard these things, they were cut to the heart, and they thought to put them to death.

Responsorial Psalm – Psalms 34:2 and 9, 17-18, 19-20

R. (7a) The Lord hears the cry of the poor.
or:
R. Alleluia.

2 I will bless the LORD at all times;
his praise shall be ever in my mouth.
9 Taste and see how good the LORD is;
blessed the man who takes refuge in him.
R. The Lord hears the cry of the poor.
or:
R. Alleluia.

17 The LORD confronts the evildoers,
to destroy remembrance of them from the earth.
18 When the just cry out, the LORD hears them,
and from all their distress he rescues them.
R. The Lord hears the cry of the poor.
or:
R. Alleluia.

19 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted;
and those who are crushed in spirit he saves.
20 Many are the troubles of the just man,
but out of them all the LORD delivers him.
R. The Lord hears the cry of the poor.
or:
R. Alleluia.

Alleluia – John 20:29

R. Alleluia, alleluia.
29 You believe in me, Thomas, because you have seen me, says the Lord;
blessed are those who have not seen, but still believe!
R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Gospel – John 3:31-36

31 He that comes from above, is above all. He that is of the earth, of the earth he is, and of the earth he speaks. He that comes from heaven, is above all.

32 And what he has seen and heard, that he testifies: and no man receives his testimony.

33 He that has received his testimony, has set to his seal that God is true.

34 For he whom God has sent, speaks the words of God: for God does not give the Spirit by measure.

35 The Father loves the Son: and he has given all things into his hand.

36 He that believes in the Son, has life everlasting; but he that believes not the Son, shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him.
