March 26 2023: Bible Verse of the Day – The Raising of Lazarus By Jesus – John 11:1-45
Today’s reading teaches us about the power and compassion of Jesus, the importance of faith and obedience, and the truth of the resurrection.
The Bible Verse of today is derived from John 11:1-45.
Welcome.
Today’s Teaching from The Raising of Lazarus By Jesus
The passage John 11:1-45 tells the story of Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. From this passage, we can learn several salient teachings that Jesus taught:
The power and Glory of God: When Jesus heard that Lazarus was sick, he told his disciples that “this sickness will not end in death but is for God’s glory.” (John 11:4)
Jesus knew that He would do something miraculous through Lazarus’ sickness and eventual death, and he demonstrates God’s power by raising Lazarus from the dead.
Similarly, we are called to have faith in God’s power and goodness, even in difficult circumstances.
The importance of compassion and friendship: When Jesus arrived at Lazarus’ tomb and saw the grief of Mary and Martha, he was deeply moved and wept for He had a close friendship with Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. (John 11:33-35).
Jesus demonstrated the importance of showing compassion and empathy towards others who are experiencing pain and loss.
The reality of death: Even though Jesus knew he would raise Lazarus from the dead, he still experienced grief and sorrow at the loss of his friend.
The truth of resurrection: Jesus declared himself to be the resurrection and the life (John 11:25), and he demonstrated his power over death by raising Lazarus from the dead.
This event foreshadows Jesus’ own resurrection and teaches us that death is not the end for those who believe in him.
The need for obedience: When Jesus commanded the people to roll away the stone from the tomb, Martha objected because Lazarus had been dead for four days and would have begun to decompose (John 11:39).
However, Jesus insisted that they obey him, and when they did, he raised Lazarus from the dead. This teaches us the importance of obedience to God’s commands, even when they don’t make sense to us.
The importance of faith: Jesus tells Martha that whoever believes in him will never die (John 11:25-26), and he demonstrates his power over death through the miracle of raising Lazarus.
The power of prayer: Before raising Lazarus from the dead, Jesus prays to God and gives thanks for the miracle that is about to happen (John 11:41-42).
The promise of eternal life: Jesus promises Martha that whoever believes in him will never die (John 11:25-26), and he teaches that eternal life is available to all who believe in him.
Overall, this passage teaches us about the power and compassion of Jesus, the importance of faith and obedience, and the truth of the resurrection.
Short Story About the Power of Jesus to Perform Miracles
Once there was a young man named David, who had always been a firm believer in the power of Jesus to perform miracles.
His father had been chronically ill for years and was now in a coma, hooked up to life support machines in a hospital.
The doctors had tried everything they could, but they had no hope of his father ever waking up again. David refused to give up hope and continued to pray to Jesus for a miracle.
One day, as David was sitting by his father’s bedside, he felt a sudden warmth spread through his body. He closed his eyes and prayed harder than he ever had before, asking Jesus to bring his father back to life.
Suddenly, David’s father’s body jerked, and the machines around him began to beep erratically. The doctors rushed in, fearing the worst, but to their amazement, David’s father had come back to life.
Tears streamed down David’s face as he embraced his father, who had regained his senses and was able to speak again. The doctors were stunned, and they could not explain what had just happened.
David knew in his heart that it was the power of Jesus that had brought his father back to life. He and his family gave thanks to God and never forgot the miracle that had occurred.
From that day on, David’s faith in Jesus only grew stronger, and he continued to trust in the power of prayer and miracles and testified to everyone about his father’s miraculous healing.
