Daily Mass Readings for December 13 2023, Wednesday of the Second Week of Advent
1st Reading – Isaiah 40:25-31
25 And to whom have you likened me or made me equal, says the Holy One?
26 Lift up your eyes on high, and see who has created these things, who brings out their host by number and calls them all by their names. By the greatness of his might and strength and power, not one of them was missing.
27 Why do you say, O Jacob, and speaks, O Israel, My way is hid from the Lord and my judgment is passed over from my God?
28 Do you not know or have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, who has created the ends of the earth. He shall not faint nor labour, neither is there any searching out of his wisdom.
29 It is he that gives strength to the weary, and increases force and might to them that are not.
30 Youths shall faint and labour: and young men shall fall by infirmity.
31 But they that hope in the Lord shall renew their strength: they shall take wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
Responsorial Psalm – Psalms 103:1-2, 3-4, 8 and 10
R. (1) O bless the Lord, my soul!
1 Bless the LORD, O my soul;
and all my being, bless his holy name.
2 Bless the LORD, O my soul,
and forget not all his benefits.
R. O bless the Lord, my soul!
3 He pardons all your iniquities,
he heals all your ills.
4 He redeems your life from destruction,
he crowns you with kindness and compassion.
R. O bless the Lord, my soul!
8 Merciful and gracious is the LORD,
slow to anger and abounding in kindness.
10 Not according to our sins does he deal with us,
nor does he requite us according to our crimes.
R. O bless the Lord, my soul!
Alleluia
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Behold, the Lord comes to save his people;
blessed are those prepared to meet him.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel – Matthew 11:28-30
Jesus said to the crowds:
28 Come to me, all you that labour, and are burdened, and I will refresh you.
29 Take up my yoke upon you, and learn of me, because I am meek, and humble of heart: and you shall find rest to your souls.
30 For my yoke is sweet and my burden light.
