Daily Mass Readings for December 12 2023
1st Reading – Zechariah 2:14-17
14 Sing praise, and rejoice, O daughter of Sion: for behold I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee: says the Lord.
15 And many nations shall be joined to the Lord in that day, and they shall be my people, and I will dwell in the midst of you: and you shall know that the Lord of hosts has sent me to you.
16 And the Lord shall possess Judah his portion in the sanctified land: and he shall yet choose Jerusalem.
17 Let all flesh be silent at the presence of the Lord: for he is risen up out of his holy habitation.
Or Revelation 11:19A; 12:1-6A, 10AB
19A And the temple of God was opened in heaven: and the ark of his testament was seen in his temple.
1 And a great sign appeared in heaven: A woman clothed with the sun, and the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars:
2 And being with child, she wailed aloud in pain as she labored to give birth.
3 And there was seen another sign in heaven: and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads, and ten horns: and on his head seven diadems:
4 And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman who was ready to be delivered; that, when she should be delivered, he might devour her son.
5 And she brought forth a son, a male child, who was to rule all nations with an iron rod: and her son was taken up to God, and to his throne.
6A And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she had a place prepared by God.
10AB And I heard a loud voice in heaven, saying: Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ.

Gospel – Luke 1:26-38
26 And in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, called Nazareth,
27 To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.
28 And the angel coming to her, said: Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.
29 Who having heard, was troubled at his saying, and thought with herself what manner of salutation this should be.
30 And the angel said to her: Fear not, Mary, for you have found grace with God.
31 Behold, you will conceive in your womb and shall bring forth a son, and you shall call his name Jesus.
32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the most High; and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father; and he shall reign in the house of Jacob forever.
33 And of his kingdom there shall be no end.
34 And Mary said to the angel: How shall this be done, because I know not man?
35 And the angel answering, said to her: The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God.
36 And behold, Elizabeth, your cousin, has also conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren;
37 Because no word shall be impossible with God.
38 And Mary said: Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; be it done to me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.
Or Luke 1:39-47
39 And Mary rising up in those days, went into the hill country with haste into a city of Judah.
40 And she entered into the house of Zechariah and saluted Elizabeth.
41 And it came to pass, that when Elizabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the infant leaped in her womb. And Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost,
42 and she cried out with a loud voice, and said: Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb.
43 And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44 For behold as soon as the voice of thy salutation sounded in my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy.
45 And blessed are you that has believed because those things shall be accomplished that were spoken to you by the Lord.
46 And Mary said: My soul does magnify the Lord.
47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Saviour.
