Today’s Bible Verse of the Day Reflections
Just like Peter, we also find ourselves asking the same question, “what will be there for us after we give up everything here on earth for the sake of Jesus Christ?” Our human minds and hearts always lie to us that we only need material things as rewards.
In Godly and Heavenly ways, material possession is not part of the things that matter, in fact it is considered a distraction to doing God’s work if used in the wrong way.
Again, I reiterate that until we all understand why God created each one of us, then we will always be distracted by worldly ways, stuff and things.
When God was creating us, He had a reason for doing so. His intention was to create you to do a certain task here on earth and this task involves being of service to other people with the talents, knowledge, and love He has given you.
To enable you to accomplish that, God gives each one of us enough supplies through His providence.
Now, the problem comes when we forget our purpose here on earth and by hook and crook, start amassing more and more wealth above what God has given us.
When we do this we forget to love, serve, praise and glorify God and start worshipping and serving our wealth, earthly powers and influence.
We tend to start owing so much allegiance to human beings like our rich family members, rich politicians, or our businesses at the expense of the least of our brothers and sisters who we have been sent to serve.
Wealth is good if you know how to use it to serve God, but excess money and wealth without a defined way of how to utilize it in doing God’s work, is bad.
It is the reason why Jesus Christ says that it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for one who is rich to enter the Kingdom of God.
This is because most rich and wealthy people think that because they have money, they do not need God anymore.
The destiny that God wishes for us is that, since we came from Him during creation, we should return to Him on the last day where we will receive our reward for the good work we did for Him here on earth.
Humility and meekness is the key to serving God with your wealth, for whoever puts himself first before men, will become last in God’s eyes and whoever puts himself last before men, will become first in the Kingdom of God.
Therefore, let’s heed Jesus’s call to deny the earthly wealth, pleasures, pride and exaltations and embrace humility, love, and service to others for in heaven, we will be rewarded a hundred-fold and inherit eternal life.
Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, We love You and serve You will all our hearts. We ask You to continue giving us Your graces, mercies, and strength to continue serving You will the little that You have given us. Let not the earthly wealth drive us away from You but help us to draw more people towards You. Jesus, I love you. Amen.
