Bishop Jean Marie Benoît Balla Death
Missing Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Bafia in Cameroon was found dead on 2nd June 2017. The body of Bishop Jean Marie Benoît Balla was found in Tsang, an area within Ebebda in the Centre Region near the Nation’s capital Yaounde.
The search for the Bishop began when his car was spotted on Wednesday 31st May, 2017 near the Bridge of Ebebda across the Sanaha river, about 78Km from Yaounde.
Information in public has it that the Man of God Committed suicide. This is after a note was found in his car written, “je suis dans l eau” translated in English as “Do not look for me! I am in the water.”
However, questions surrounding his death continue to be asked and in-depth investigations into his death are ongoing. Until the whole truth is unearthed, this death will always remain a mystery.
Monsignor Jean Marie Benoît Balla is the second Clergyman to have died in Bafia in a space of two weeks, after a young Priest in the locality was found dead in his room the previous week.
Bishop Balla was born on May 10, 1959. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Yaounde on June 20, 1987. He was appointed Bishop of Catholic Diocese of Bafia on May 3, 2003 and consecrated on July 12, 2003.
