Biography
Blessed Alonso de Baena, Jesuit friar. A missionary. Martyred by the Huguenot Jacques Sourie while in transit to Brazil. Among a band of forty Spanish, Portugese and French Jesuit evangelists martyred by the Huguenot privateer Jacques Sourie while on the way to Brazil. Drowned on July 15, 1570 by being tossed off the ship Santiago close Palma, Canary Islands.
