Blessed’s Biography
Blessed Amadeus of Clermont was Count of Hauterives in France and a member of the royal family. Father of Blessed Amadeus of Lausanne. After his wife’s death in 1119, he left with 16 of his men and entered the Cistercian monastery at Bonnevaux Abbey. Amadeus and his son moved to Cluny Abbey, both in France. Amadeus senior founded four monasteries: Léoncel, Mazan, Montperoux and Tamis. He returned to Bonnevaux, where he died around 1150 of natural causes.
