Bl. Ambrose Fernandez Biography
Bl. Ambrose Fernandez was a soldier in the Portuguese army and worked as a trader and also a security guard for the traders in Japan beginning 1571 AD. He was converted and joined the Jesuits as a lay brother in 1579 to assist in evangelizing Japan.
When Christians were exiled from Japan in 1614, Brother Ambrose stayed to help in Converting Christians working with Blessed Charles Spinola. He was caught by the authorities and then dragged into prison in Nagasaki where he died after 13 months.
