Blessed’s Biography
Blessed Ambrose Fernandez was born in 1551 at Sisto, Portugal. He was a soldier in the Portuguese army and worked as a trader and security guard for other traders in Japan, beginning in 1571. It there in Japan that he entered the Jesuits in 1579 as a lay brother. He died at seventy-nine, arrested and imprisoned in the jails of Suzota in 1620.
