Blessed’s Biography
Blessed Augustine Novello was born in 1240 at Taormina, Sicily as Matthew of Taormina. He studied law in Bologna, and he worked in the kingdom’s chancellery of Sicily, at the court of Manfredi.
He left Sicily and went to the hermitage of Rosia, near Siena to be a lay brother. Bishop. Augustine was known as Novello, a priest of the Order of the Hermits of Saint Augustine, a lover of true humility and a lover of the observance of monastic discipline.
