Blessed’s Biography
Blessed Elena Guerra was born on June 23, 1835, in Italy. Her noble parents were affluent but still afflicted by accidents. Of the six children, three died at a young age. Helena was raised very Christianity with her siblings. Her life was characterized by an eager devotion to the Holy Spirit and to the spread of the faith.
Work
First, she worked in the Vincent de Paul company and visited poor and sick. Next, she studied Latin and the teachings of the church. At age 19, she helped the sick in a cholera epidemic, and as a 22-year-old she had a disease that forced her to stay the bed for eight years. Blessed Elena Guerra became the first member of The Association of Mary’s Daughters of St. Agnes, which was established in Lucca in 1866.
