Biography

Blessed George Haydock was the youngest son of Evan and Helen Haydock. He schooled at the English college in Douai, France and the English College in Rome, Italy. George was ordained a priest on 21 December 1581 at Rheims in France. He then returned home to minister to Catholic converts during the persecutions of Queen Elizabeth.

George was then arrested in London, England and served 15 months in the Tower of London for the crime of priesthood. At a later point, he was finally allowed to administer the Sacraments to fellow prisoners. He was one of the martyrs of England, Scotland, and Wales.
