Blessed’s Biography
Blessed Gjon Koda was a Franciscan Friar monk. On July 30, 1925, he celebrated his first mass in Vicar in Lezhë, Albania where he was arrested and tortured by Communist authorities.
They wanted him to confess that his brother Franciscans gathered for political reasons and were planning against the state. It was a lie, and Brother Serafin refused to “confess” to save himself.
He died on May 11, 1947, in Lezhë, Albania where nails were driven through his throat. Gjon was secretly buried nearby and his grave was rediscovered on September 16, 1994.
