Blessed’s Biography
Bl. José Trinidad Rangel y Montaño was born in Dolores Hidalgo, Guanajuato, Mexico on June 4, 1887. Rangel was the son of Mr. José Eduvigis and María Higinia. From his childhood, he had wanted to consecrate himself to the priesthood, but the economic conditions of the family did not allow him to enter the seminary until 1909. He was allowed him to enter as a free and external student.
Rangel was ordained a priest on April 13, 1919. He stood out for his humility and simplicity. As a priest, he attended the Salle Catechetical Center, in León. He served as Vicar of the parish of Silao, Vicar of Zangarro in Ivory, Vicar in Ocampo and San Felipe Guanajuato. He also served as a Parish priest of Jaripitío.
During the 1925 persecution in Mexico, he remained hidden with Blessed Andres Salá and Molist also Claretian, in the house of some lay friends. They had established a small chapel where they celebrated the Eucharist. On 22 April 1927, Father Jose admitted to being a priest and was arrested, interrogated, tortured, and shot

Venerated
Rangel was venerated on June 22 2004 by Pope John Paul II.
