Biography

Blessed Karol Stepien, destined to Józef and Marianna Puch, poor regular workers ranchers, Karol as a tyke was considered amazingly savvy and very rowdy. He early felt a call to the priesthood, and at age 13 started learning at the Franciscan theological school in Lviv (in current Ukraine). He joined the Franciscan Friars Minor Conventual in 1928 at Lodz-Lagiewniki, Poland, taking the name Herman and making his serious calling in 1932. Sibling Herman proceeded with his examinations at the Pontifical University of Saint Bonaventure in Rome, Italy, and was appointed a priest in Rome on 5 July 1936. Father Herman proceeded with his investigations at the Jan Kazimierz University in Lvov, gaining a Master’s certificate in Theology.

Filled in as priest in Franciscan Shrine of Our Lady of Sorrows in Radomsko, Poland, at that point the congregation and Franciscan religious community of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Vilnius, Lithuania. In 1940 he was alloted to Piaršai (in present day Belarus), helping Blessed Józef Puchala. The two attempted to think about the general population who were being moved to Siberian work camps by the Russians, and afterward to death camps by Germans. Tormented, mangled and after that killed while serving individuals who were to be killed in reprisal for fanatic assaults against the Nazi occupiers. Saint.
