Blessed Lambert Peloguin of Vence Biography

Blessed Lambert Peloguin’s mother died during childbirth. From the age of 12, he was raised by the Benedictine monks of Lérins Abbey and at the age of 14, he entered the order.

When he was 30 years old, he reluctantly became the bishop of Vence, France in 1114 AD because he did not want to give up his life in the monastery. After accepting to become a bishop, he served for 40 years and throughout his tenure, he built hospitals and took care of widows and orphans.

Now and then, he would hibernate in a small hermitage in the forest where he would spend some time in prayer and meditation.

Blessed Lambert Peloguin was a pious, honest, and charitable man of God. This made even civil authorities request him to arbitrate on several matters which would not require a further appeal.

Blessed Lambert Peloguin died in 1151 AD in Vence, France and his relics are interred there.
