Blessed Marija Petkovic Biography

Blessed Marija Petkovic, 6th of eleven youngsters destined to Antun Petkovic-Kovac and Maria Marinovic. Brought up in a well off family known for their philanthropy to poor people. Taught in open grade school and afterward, the School of Domestic Science kept running by the Servants of Charity. Made her First Communion in 1905 at age 13.

Daughters of Mary

She joined the Daughters of Mary in 1906, felt a genuine call to religious life, and on 21 November she made a private promise of celibacy. Leader of the 300 part Daughters of Mercy from 1909 to 1919. An individual from the Good Shepherd Association, a gathering of twenty young ladies who visited the debilitated and helped youngsters get ready for their First Communion. Her dad kicked the bucket in 1911 when Mary was 19, and she needed to help raise her more youthful kin.

Established the Society of Catholic Mothers in 1915. Driven a gathering of 200 Franciscan tertiaries in 1917, and started working in a Servants of a Charity soup kitchen.
