Blessed’s Biography
Blessed Nicholas Albergati was born in 1373 at Bologna, Italy. He came from a wealthy family and studied law at the college in Bologna. But at twenty, in 1394 he became a Carthusian monk. In 1404, he was ordained and on January 5, 1417, chosen as reluctant bishop of Bologna, Italy. Later he became archbishop of Bologna in 1418 against his will.
Death
He died on May 9, 1443, at Siena, Italy of natural causes and was buried at the Carthusian monastery in Florence, Italy.
