Blessed’s Biography
Blessed Peter Wright was born into a Protestant family, and he converted to Catholicism. Worked for ten years in a law firm.
Joined the troop, was assigned to the Netherlands but left after a month. Peter studied at the Jesuit seminary in Ghent and in Rome.
Later he became a priest and in 1629 entered the Jesuits in Belgium and held posts in Liège and Saint-Omer. Chaplain to English soldiers in Flanders, Belgium.
In the spring of 1644, he returned to England with Sir Henry Gage and served as pastor of the Royalist Army during the English Civil War. Rabbi of the Marquis of Winchester.
Arrested on Candlemas Day in 1651 during the repression of Christians by Oliver Cromwell for his beliefs in London. He was housed in Newgate Prison. He was killed in front of 20,000 spectators.
