Blessed’s Biography
Blessed William Marsden entered the English College in Rheims, France in 1580. Ordained a priest at Rheims and worked with his friend, Blessed Robert Anderton. Together with Robert, they were sailing to England, but the ship was driven off course and wrecked on the Isle of Wight. They were arrested, charged with being priests on English soil. They said they had lost the ship, and they had no choice on being there; because of appeals, they were sent to London for further interrogation. There they accepted Elizabeth as their rightful queen, but not in spiritual matters. Martyred.
Death
He died on April 26 1586 by been hanged, drawn, and quartered on the beach of the Isle of Wight, England.
