Parish Short History
In mid twentieth century Athens, visiting clerics held administrations in a little church named St. Henry’s at the edge of Coleman Ave. furthermore, Brown’s Ferry Rd. By the late 1920s, the house of prayer shut and parishioners made a trip to St. Ann’s in Decatur for Mass, crossing the waterway by ship. During the 1940s, chapel gatherings were again held in Athens, at the home of Mr. furthermore, Mrs. Carl Hatchett.
In 1959 the congregation acquired property and assembled a little mission church. In 1967 the congregation bought the contiguous property, and in 1970, Bishop Vath announced the foundation of St. Paul Parish. The area fabricated a parsonage with space for workplaces and religious training classes.
To suit the developing assembly, another congregation building was raised in 1992, another area corridor in 1996, and another parsonage in 2004. Most as of late in 2016, the area assembled a two-story Religious Education working with workplaces. The first church presently houses our sanctuary and blessing shop.
Throughout the years, St. Paul’s has thrived and turned into a dynamic, confidence filled ward adjusting to the developing needs of its family. We greet everybody wholeheartedly and warm hearts.
