Bl. Isabella of France was also known as Isabel of France. She was born a princess being the daughter of King Louis VIII of France and Blanche of Castle. Isabel was the sister to Saint Louis IX and the aunt of St. Louis of Toulouse. She rejected a marriage offer from a German emperor for her to found a Poor Clare convent at Longchamps, Paris in France where she served as a nun without vows.
in 1259 AD, Pope Alexander IV approved a rule Isabella had written on the order of the Humble Handmaidens of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
