Blessed Robert Nutter Biography
Blessed Robert Nutter, brother of the blessed John Nutter. Trained in the mid-1560s at Brasenose College in Oxford, England. Seminar at English College, Reims, France. Consecrated on 21 December 1581 in Soissons, France. Return to England with blessed George Haydock to hide Catholics there. He worked for two years, for two years imprisoning and torturing him in the Tower of London, and then banishing himself to be a priest because of the crime. After a few months in France to recover, he returned to England; He was arrested almost immediately and spent nearly 15 years in prison. He joined the Dominicans in prison and was ordered by the Provincial of Portugal. In March 1600, he managed to escape, which was reconquered in May, stored at Wisbich Castle, tortured and finally hung with Blessed Edward Thwing.
