Biography
Saint Giuse Nguyen Ðình Uyen was a Layman in Dominican tertiary and a catechist. He died in prison after the persecutions of Emperor Minh Mang. Martyred for his faith. Born in 1775 AD in Vietnam, he was a Christian layman there. Died in prison in Hung Yên, East Tonkin (modern Vietnam), on July 4, 1838. Beatified by Pope Leo XIII on May 27, 1900. Later Canonized by Pope John Paul II on June 19, 1988.
