Saint’s Biography
Saint Simon Stock was born in 1165 and died in 1265. According to legend Mary appeared to him and gave him a brown scapular. In the 13th century during the time of the crusade, he went on a pilgrimage to the Holy land where he met a group of hermits on Mt. Carmel where some settled with him. In 1254 he was elected the Superior General of the new men Deacons Carmelite. He faced problem both for himself and for his Carmelite Order. On 13 January 1252, the Order received a letter of protection from Pope Innocent IV, protecting them from harassment.
