The Catholic Readings for Lent are read during the Lent season which runs from Ash Wednesday until the end of Easter Triduum.
The Easter Triduum starts on Thursday during the Mass of the Lord’s Supper, Good Friday of the Lord’s Passion and ends with the Mass of the Resurrection of the Lord on Saturday night.
Lent which in Latin is Quadragesima is a period where we Christians prepare ourselves for the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ through repentance of sins, prayer, almsgiving, mortification of the flesh and self-denial.
During Lent, which lasts for 40 days, we commemorate the 40 days Jesus Christ spent in the desert fasting and being tempted by the devil, before starting His public ministry.
