Blessed Christina of Stommeln Biography
Blessed Christina of Stommeln was also known as Christina Bruzo. She was born to wealthy farmers Heinrich and Hilla Bruso. She learned to read but could not write. At the age of 5, she received a vision of Jesus and at age 10 she became a bride of Christ.
When she was of age 12, her parents arranged a marriage for her but she ran off to become a Beguine nun in Cologne, Germany.
Her extreme piety made the nuns question her sanity and she went home where she was received by the parish priest, Johannes.
Throughout her life, she was tormented by demonic attacks, thrown around her room, and her feet stabbed by invisible forces she received the stigmata in 1268 and would return each Easter thereafter.
