Blessed John Bodey was a schoolmaster born in Wells, Somerset, England in 1549.
He questioned King Henry VIII’s claim of supremacy in spiritual matters.
Consequently, he was arrested in 1580 and imprisoned for 3 years. He was hanged and died as a martyr on November 2 1583 in Andover, England.
We celebrate his feast day on November 2 every year in the Catholic Church.

Blessed John Bodey Biography
Bl. John Bodey was educated at Winchester and Oxford in England and later in New College, Oxford in 1568 AD.
He converted and studied law at Douai, France in 1576 Ad. He later returned home in February 1578 as a schoolmaster.
John married and was against King Henery VIII’s claim of supremacy in spiritual matters. He was then arrested in 1580 and spent three years in prison in Winchester.
He was tried and condemned with Blessed John Slade for his belief in 1583 and later re-tried in Andover and convicted on 15 August 1583. Martyred.
