Jesus said to his disciples:
“I am the true vine, and my Father is the vine grower. He takes away every branch in me that does not bear fruit and everyone that does he prunes so that it bears more fruit. You are already pruned because of the word that I spoke to you. – John 15:1-3

Catholic Readings for Today

Today’s Bible Quote Inspiration – John 15:1-3

This is one of the best examples of how we relate to Jesus and to God the Father. In this verse we are reminded that our work here on earth is to be productive according to the talents that God has given us.

We cannot bear any meaningful fruit if we are not attached to the true vine, which is Jesus Christ. And we must be pruned time and again so that we bear good fruits.

This is why God the Father sent His Son Jesus Christ on earth as the bearer of the Good News which will prune us and make us bear good fruits.

If any we refuse to accept Jesus Christ and his teachings, it means we will not get pruned, therefore we will not deliver the best results God expects from us from the talents he gave us.

If we do not deliver to God, then he will cut us off from the True Vine, we will wither and dry and we will be used by other people as firewood, meaning we will be useless – If that is the right word to use.

When we are attached to the True Vine, Jesus will guide, guard, protect and govern us when we are in trouble. If we are cut-off from Jesus, we become like the dry, helpless branches.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, let me always remain attached to You so that I may always bear good fruits with the talents that God Has given me. Help me to always get pruned by Your Holy Words. Amen.
