July 20 2024: Bible Verse of the Day – My Servant Whom I Have Chosen, My Beloved in Whom I Delight – Matthew 12:14-21, Saturday of the Fifteenth Week in Ordinary Time

Prophet Isaiah prophesied
18 Behold, my servant whom I have chosen, my beloved in whom I delight;
I shall place my Spirit upon him, and he will proclaim justice to the Gentiles.
19 He will not contend or cry out, nor will anyone hear his voice in the streets.
20 A bruised reed he will not break, a smouldering wick he will not quench, until he brings justice to victory.
21 And in his name the Gentiles will hope. – Matthew 12:14-21

Today’s Bible Verse of the Day Reflections

Prophet Isaiah perfectly described Jesus for who He is; gentle, kind, meek, humble and all other good things that Jesus truly is. He also prophesies about Jesus coming from God the Father to bring the Good News to all the nations.

God calls Jesus, “My Servant Whom I Have Chosen, My Beloved in Whom I Delight.” Now, you may ask, why did God have to choose His beloved son Jesus and send Him to the world as a servant and take the form of man even though He was true God? This is why!

God created us human beings for one sole reason; to know Him, love Him, serve Him, praise and glorify Him and at the end live with Him in eternal joy.

Instead of doing just that, we human beings began to turn away from God’s purpose and began knowing, loving, serving and glorifying other gods like money, wealth, idols etc.

We began to misuse the privilege of free choice that we were granted. We forgot that God is the owner of everything in this world.

When we were born we met everything already created by God. What we now worship like Money, wealth and power, are all subordinate to God.

This is not to say that they are not important but we should use them to love, serve and praise the Almighty God.

After God saw that the people had decided to worship things that are of this world and not Him, He used people like Abraham and Moses to preach to them but the people did not heed to their message to return and worship Him.

God again tried to use the prophets but the people still did not listen. This is why He decided to come down Himself in the form of His Son Jesus Christ to proclaim the same message. But then the people did not listen to God Himself again.

Now, my friends, God is using me and you to continue from where Jesus left. We need to preach to all people to turn back to God and worship Him alone.

Let us use the wealth, money and power that we have to serve, praise and glorify God because that is the sole reason He created us.

Let us always pray to God so that we can overcome the temptations of the evil one who will always entice us to worship other things instead of God.

Prayer: Lord Jesus Christ, You were sent to this world to make us turn back to love, serve and praise You. Help us to always use the wealth, power and influence that we have to serve others and make sure they come closer to You. Give us the strength to overcome the evil pressures of this world that may again turn us away from You. Jesus, I love you. Amen
