Biography
Blessed Pope Eugene II, Noticeable Cistercian priest. Companion of St. Bernard of Clairvaux. Abbot of the religious community of Tre Fontaine. Chosen pope collectively on day of his ancestor’s burial service; the cardinals needed a snappy race to avoid the impedance of mainstream specialists. Advanced the appalling Second Crusade. In 1146, the disturbance of Arnold of Brescia and the republicans drove the pope from Rome. While in a state of banishment from 1146 to 1149 and again from 1150 to 1152, Eugene attempted to change administrative control.
