In our quiet moments of reflection and connection, we come together to talk to the Holy Spirit, a special and powerful force that brings goodness and wisdom into our lives.

It’s like a gentle friend who helps us understand and do what’s right. As we start this prayer, we ask the Holy Spirit to be with us, guiding us and filling our hearts with love and kindness.

We believe that with the Holy Spirit by our side, we can make better choices and be better people. So, let’s take a moment to open our hearts and minds, inviting the Holy Spirit to be a part of our thoughts and actions.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit and they shall be created. And You shall renew the face of the earth.

The Holy Spirit is one-third of the Holy Trinity, which consists of God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit. It is important to say a prayer to the Holy Spirit daily. To express thanks for the guidance and spiritual nourishment the Holy Spirit provides.

Catholic Prayer to the Holy Spirit

“Blessed Holy Spirit, You are the Third Person of the Holy Trinity. You are the Spirit of truth, love and holiness. Proceeding from the Father and the Son, and equal to Them in all things. I worship You and love You with all my heart. Show me how to know and to seek God, by whom and for whom I was created. Fill my heart with a Holy fear and a great love for Him. Give me humility and patience, and do not let me fall into sin.

Holy Spirit, increase faith, hope and charity in me and bring forward in me all the virtues proper to my stage of life. Help me to grow in the four core virtues, Your seven gifts and Your twelve fruits.

Make me a faithful and fearful follower of Christ, an obedient child of the Church and a help to my neighbor. Grant me the grace to keep the commandments and to attain the sacraments worthily. Raise me to holiness in the stage of life to which You have ushered me, and lead me through a happy death to everlasting life. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Grant me also, O Holy Spirit, Giver of all good gifts, the special favor for which I ask {name special petition} if it be for Your honor and glory and for my well being. Amen.”

I, in this short conversation, want to thank you for everything, and confirm once more that I never want to be parted from you. No matter how great the material desires may be. I wish to be with you and my loved ones in your eternal glory.
Amen.

Prayer to Receive the Holy Spirit

“Heavenly Father, as your child in Jesus I wish to be totally an instrument for Your Kingdom to be evident through my life. I endeavor to receive your Promise of the Holy Spirit to those who are believers. Jesus, my Savior and King, baptize me in the Holy Spirit. So that the power of your resurrection will work in me and change me according to your plan. Holy Spirit, empower me and fill me to the point of overflowing. I hold nothing back from you. Work your gifts in me and through me, all of me, so that the heavenly Father’s Kingdom may be manifested in and through my life. I ask this in Jesus’ mighty Name. Amen!

Prayer to the Holy Spirit for Guidance

I am on my knees before the great multitude of heavenly witnesses. Offering myself, soul and body, to You Everlasting Spirit of God. I praise the brightness of Your Purity, the unfailing desire for Your Justice, and the might of Your Love. You are the Strength and Light of my heart. In You I live, move and am. I desire never to upset You by unfaithfulness to grace, and I pray with all my heart to be kept from the slightest sin against You.

Holy Spirit, mercifully guard my every thought and make it that I may always watch for Your Light, and listen to Your Voice, and follow Your glorious inspirations. I hang on to You and give myself to You and ask You by Your love to watch over me in my weakness. Believing that the pierced Feet of Jesus and looking at His Five Wounds and trusting in His Precious Blood and adoring his opened Side and stricken Heart, I implore You, Adorable Spirit, Helper of my weakness, so to keep me in Your grace that I may never transgress against You. Give me grace, O Holy Ghost, Spirit of the Father and the Son to say to You always and everywhere, “Speak, Lord, for Your servant heareth. Amen.

Prayer to the Holy Spirit for Help

Blessed Father, how we praise Your holy name for the wonderful work that Your Holy Spirit is doing in each of Your children’s lives as You shape and make us into the people that You would like us to be.

Thank You for the caring work that You did in my life and for the maturing process that continues to take place to this day. As I yield to Your ongoing teaching, training and corrective program within me. Provide me I pray, with Your constant help and guidance. May I learn the many lessons that You are planning to teach me, as You continue to comfort and correct.

May I be willing to learn all that You will teach me and may I be increasingly responsive to Your warnings and reminders.

Give me I pray, ears to hear Your still unappreciated voice and a heart that is willing to walk in the path that You would choose for me to follow. May I be willing to go where You show us, do what You would have me do and give up that which You choose to exclude from my life, even if I don’t understand.

I pray that with the strength of Your Spirit I may learn to say, “Your will be done, no matter what the cost” and the courage to accept Your will for my life. I ask this in the precious name of Jesus, Amen.”

Prayer to the Holy Spirit for Wisdom

“Heavenly Father, in the Name of Jesus, I acknowledge that as a believer, my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. My acceptance of Your presence on a daily basis makes my faith in You even greater. I believe that You, heavenly Father, are leading and guiding me by the Holy Spirit through my spirit, and enlightening my mind.

As I surrender myself to the Holy Spirit, I believe that my steps are ordered by You, LORD. Holy Spirit, I commit and trust myself wholly to Your wisdom, expecting You to cause my thoughts to become agreeable to our Father’s will, so my plans will be established and succeed. I trust in You, LORD, with all my heart and lean not on my own understanding. As I acknowledge You, You direct me in paths of righteousness.

I confess that as I become more devout, I can more easily recognize the inward witness of the Holy Spirit. Father, I hear the voice of the Good Shepherd, and a stranger’s voice I will not follow. For I am aware that my spirit is the candle of The LORD.

I meditate on the WORD day and night, not letting it depart from my mouth. Father, I test my inward witness with The WORD, for the Spirit and The WORD agree. I am quick to act on The WORD, as well as the prompting of my spirit. I am not a listener only, but also a doer. Therefore, I am blessed in all my deeds.”

Personal Prayer to the Holy Spirit

“Blessed Father, how I thank You that by faith in the Lord Jesus, Your Holy Spirit has kept me alive in Him and brought me into the family of God and the Body of Christ.

I thank You for He has set His seal of ownership upon me and taken up residence within my heart. So as to encourage me in my spiritual journey, as He slowly transforms me into the coveted likeness of the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. I pray that the Holy Spirit will lead and guide me in all things and that I will learn to listen to the gentle guidance of His voice. As I read Your Word or commune with You in prayer. Give me grace to know His still low voice as I search through the scriptures each day and the wisdom to discern Your spiritual guidance when Godly Christians are prompted to offer direction and give me advice.

May I have an open heart and develop an accepting spirit and I pray that I may walk in Your ways and live a life that is well-pleasing to You. Glorify my Father in heaven, I ask this in Jesus name, Amen.”

Morning Prayer to the Holy Spirit

“Breathe into me Holy Spirit, So all my thoughts may be holy. Work in me, Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be holy. Attract my soul, Holy Spirit, that I may love only what is holy. Empower me, Holy Spirit, that I may defend all that is holy. Protect me, Holy Spirit, that I always may be holy. Broaden our minds to understand the mysteries of the universe in relation to eternity.

Holy Spirit of correct judgment and courage, guide us and make us firm in our baptismal decision to follow Jesus’ way of love on this day. Spirit of knowledge and reverence, help us to see the true value of justice and mercy in our everyday interactions with each other. May we respect life as we work to solve complications of family and nation, economy and environment. Spirit of God, ignites our faith, hope and love into new action each day. Fill our lives with wonder and amazement in your presence which reaches all creation. Amen.”

Evening Prayer to the Holy Spirit

“Blessed Holy Spirit, most caring Comforter, You proceed from the Heavenly Father in a manner beyond our understanding. Come, I plead with You, and take up your residence in my heart. Purify and cleanse me from all sin, and bless my soul. Cleanse it from every impurity, moisten its dryness, warm its coldness, and save it from its sinful ways. Make me truly humble and resigned, that I may be pleasing to You and that You might walk with me forever.

Most Blessed Light, most friendly Light, enlighten me. Ecstatic Joy of Paradise, Fountain of Purest Delight, My God, give yourself to me and ignite in my innermost heart the fire of Your love. My Lord, instruct, direct, and defend me in all things. Give me power against all illogical fears and against hopelessness. Bestow upon me a true faith, a firm hope, and a sincere and perfect love. Grant that I always do Your Most Gracious Will. Amen.”

I ask You to give me these gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, so that I may understand the wrongs of this world. Understanding, so that I may understand more fully the meaning of my existence and the purpose of all things in the world. Counsel, that I may always choose the correct path.

Fortitude, that I may remain faithful to You under the pressure of temptation. Piety, that I may worship You in all I do, think or say. Fear of the Lord, that should the power of love fail me, I may quickly be enlightened to the eternal consequences of my deeds. Visit me by Your grace and Your love and grant me the favor I so earnestly seek in this novena, State your request here. Amen.”

Act of Consecration to the Holy Spirit

“Blessed Holy Spirit, Divine Spirit of light and love, I consecrate to You my understanding, heart, and will, my whole being for time and for eternity.

May my understanding always adhere to Your heavenly inspirations, and to the teaching of the Catholic Church of which You are the unquestionable guide.

May my heart be ever filled with love of God and for my neighbor. May my will be ever conformed to Your divine will.
Also may my whole life be a faithful example of the life and virtues of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, to whom with the Father and You be honor and glory forever. Amen.
