Saint’s Biography
St Basiliscus of Pontus was the bishop of Comana in Turkey. He was one of the groups of Christians who were tortured and killed in the persecutions of Emperor Galerius for refusing to offer sacrifices to pagan gods.
According to legend, when Basiliscus announced his refusal, lightning struck the temple and toppled the statues. His spirit is said to have struck John Chrysostom on his deathbed to bring him to the afterlife.
