Biography
Saint Febronia of Patti, July fifth is the memorial day of Santa Febronia, virgin and saint. Conjured against maladies, seismic tremors and other catastrophic events, she is the patroness of Patti, a community in the Province of Messina, Sicily.
As indicated by convention, Febronia was conceived in Patti to an affluent agnostic family. Furtively changing over to Christianity, she was sanctified through water, took a pledge of virginity and blessed herself to Jesus Christ.
Learning of his little girl’s change, Febronia’s dad violently beat and badgering the youthful house cleaner. Trying to get away from her dad’s fierceness, she fled to the caverns of Mons Iovis, close Mongiove.
Finding her concealing spot, the irate patriarch had Febronia bound and cast into the ocean. Marvelously, her body crossed the Mediterranean and was found on the shoreline of Minori, along the Amalfi Coast, where she is adored as Santa Trofimena.
To remember the event, I’m presenting a Prayer on Santa Febronia. The going with photograph was taken at the Santa Febronia Chapel in Hoboken, New Jersey.
