Biography
Saint Firminus of Apsaros was on of seven Christian brothers. They used to be soldiers in the imperial Roman army. He was however kicked out of the military and exiled. Eventually, he was martyred in the persecutions of Maximian.
During the rule of Maximian, between 284-305 AD. The Scythian invasion happened. St. Orentius was made to fight against Scythian warrior, Marothom. He won and in the process stopped the invasion. Happy, the emperor wanted to offer sacrifice to the pagan gods to celebrate and thank them for the victory. He invited St. Orentius, however being a Christian, he refused. The Emperor was angry, he ordered their banishment. The saint and his six brothers were all sent to the Caucasus. However, it was during the journey that all seven brothers died from hunger or torture.
