Saint’s Biography
Saint Germanicus of Smyrna was a youth who was arrested and martyred under the rule of the Roman Emperor Antoninus for his belief in Smyrna. When Germanicus stood in the ring in front of a wild animal, the Roman proconsul asked him to deny his belief in order to obtain an apology. But the young man refused.The story of his bravery was recorded by Saint Polycarp.
