Biography
Saint Jacob of Nisibis, a monk. First bishop of Nisibis, Mesopotamia (current Nusaybin, Turkey) from 309 until his demise. Profound chief of Saint Ephrem of Syria. Taken an interest in the Council of Nicaea in 325. Noted for appealing to God for the passing of Arius, organizer of the Arian apostasy. Known for his learning, his devotion, his development of a basilica and philosophical school at Nisibis. Propelled the main known quest by Christians for the heap of Noah’s Ark. Huge numbers of the compositions ascribed to him during that time have as of late been resolved to have been wrote by another Jacob.
