Biography
Saint John the Georgian, Destined to the tenth century Iberian honorability. Hitched layman, and extraordinary military authority. Father of St. Euthymius the Illuminator. With his better half’s endorsement, he turned into a priest on Mt. Olympus in Bithynia. Ventured out to Constantinople to his child, who was being held prisoner by the sovereign. Euthymius then joined his dad as a priest. Their sacredness pulled in would-be devotees, so they resigned to the cloister of Saint Athanasius on Mt. Athos in Macedonia. With John’s brother by marriage, resigned general John Thornikos, and Euthymius, John established Iviron (Iweron) religious community on Mount Athos; St. John filled in as its first abbot. The religious community is still being used, however now by Greek Orthodox monks.
