Biography
Saint Macrina the Younger, the daughter of St. Emmelia and St. Basil the Elder; sister of St. Basil the Great, St. Gregory of Nyssa, and St. Peter of Sebastea; granddaughter of St. Macrina the Elder, and called the Younger to recognize the two. Taught by her mom, she could read since she was young. Promised at age twelve to a youthful legal advisor who kicked the bucket before the wedding. She denied different ideas of marriage, and dedicated herself to her family, at that point to a religious life. Religious recluse. Succeeded her mom as leader of a little network of ladies in Pontus (some portion of current Turkey). Her history and reminicenses of her were composed by her sibling St. Gregory.
